Tufted sedge, sometimes covering large areas. stems 1m tall, acutely triangular, finely scabrous on edges in upper part. Leaves flat 4-5mm wide with scabrous margins. panicle 5-20 m long, narrow with short brown spikes appresed to stem; lowest spide distant; uppper spikes crowded. nut biconvex. in swamps, by creek in many regen areas. all states. coast to western plains. #romanticgrasses
